On 15 July 2018, at the invitation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Sergy of Barnaul and Altai visited Slovakia and concelebrated with His Beatitude Rastislav the Divine Liturgy in the town of Stropkov, at the Church of the Deposition of the Robe of the Most Holy Theotokos.

After the Liturgy, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia handed over to Metropolitan Sergy of Barnaul and Altai a gift for the Russian Orthodox Church – an icon of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers made by the Orthodox Christians in Stropkov to mark the centenary of the martyrdom of the Royal family in Yekaterinburg. Metropolitan Sergy presented His Beatitude with an icon of St. Macarius the Enlightener of Altai.

On 19 July 2018, during the celebrations marking the commemoration day of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Lavra of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius, Metropolitan Sergy gave the Slovakian icon of the Royal Passion-Bearers to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
