DECR Chairman meets with Russian ambassador in Argentina

On February 7, 2023, DECR Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relation Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, who is in Buenos-Aires, with a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, to attend the round-table conference on ‘The Russian Orthodox Church and Compatriots: the experience of cooperation in Latin American Countries’, met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Argentina D. V. Feoktistov.

Participating in the meeting from the Russian embassy were also the first secretary O. V. Kolomin, and from the church side - Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America; Archpriest Nikolay Lishchenyuk, DECR vice-chairman; Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for the affairs of the diaspora; Archpriest Sergiy Yurin, secretary of the Diocese of Argentina and South America; and Rev. Alexander Yershov, assistant to the DECR chairman.

The meeting dealt with issues of mutual concern.

After the meeting, a reception was given at the Russian Embassy in Argentina in honor of the participants in the round-table conference. Mr. Feoktistov greeted all the attendees.

In his turn, Metropolitan Anthony thanked the head of the Russian diplomatic mission for the hospitality and expressed a hope for the continuation of the constructive cooperation.
