On May 15, 2021, during his visit to the Diocese of Poltava, Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech conveyed a blessing from the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Neofit, to all the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

On the commemoration day of St. Athanasius the Wonderworker of Lubny, the hierarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church concelebrated with Metropolitan Philipp of Poltava and Mirgorod at the Divine Liturgy in the Mgarsk Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration.

Metropolitan Gabriel thanked for the invitation to lift up prayers at the historic monastery and underlined that the only canonical Orthodox Church in Ukraine is the Church headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All Ukraine.

Your Eminence, I would like to congratulate you on behalf of the clergy and the faithful Christians of our diocese, who feel a special love for your holy Church’, Metropolitan Gabriel said, ‘Your Church is going through a time of trial, a time of persecution, but at the same time you are growing spiritually with God’s help. We follow the example of faith shown by the clergy and people of Ukraine. There is only one Church and this Orthodox Church in Ukraine is represented by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church headed by Metropolitan Onufriy’.

‘The grace of God is given only there wh ere the canons and dogmata are observed’, Metropolitan Gabriel added.
